The OBEX is currently not fully air-conditioned.

To ensure you have a pleasant visit, we recommend:

• Drinking plenty of water

• Wearing light clothing

• Taking regular short breaks

• Speaking to our team if needed

• Enjoying cold drinks and ice cream at the café

Look after yourselves and enjoy your visit with us!

Heating is available for cold days, however.

Yes, OBEX offers both drinks (coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, wine) and a small selection of food. During the week, we are currently able to offer you snacks such as pretzels, muffins and ice cream. At weekends, we also offer a variety of hot dishes, which we prepare fresh for you.

Please note that food and drink may not be consumed within our exhibition spaces.

You are welcome to bring your own food and drink and consume them before or after visiting the exhibition. However, eating or drinking within the exhibitions is not permitted. Any open food or drink must be consumed or disposed of before entering the exhibition. Exceptions may be made in cases of medical necessity. Water must be carried in a closed/sealed bottle. Please inform the staff on site upon your arrival if you have a medical need to bring food or drink with you.

Sat, Sun: 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Our opening times can vary from this due to bank or school holidays. Please see our ticketing site for times.You can find the current opening hours for each day on the website of our ticket partner.

The weather does not affect our exhibitions, as they take place indoors.

No. Smoking and vaping is strictly prohibited at OBEX. There is a small garden where smoking and vaping is permitted.

Yes, OBEX has toilets – just follow the signs or feel free to ask our staff on site for directions.

We have set up a nappy-changing area in the wheelchair-accessible toilet. Please ask our staff on site for directions.

Unfortunately, pets are not permitted on site, but assistance dogs may be brought along provided the specified guidelines are followed. You can find more information on bringing assistance dogs with you in the answer to the FAQ ‘Are assistance dogs allowed?’.

OBEX is centrally located in the city of Oberhausen. It is just a 15-minute walk from Oberhausen Central Station. OBEX is also served by several bus routes  running every 10 to 15 minutes (Lines 939, 957 and SB93 to the stop ‘Quartier 231’).

OBEX can be reached quickly by car from the A3 motorway (OB-Lirich junction) and the A42 motorway (OB-Buschhausen junction). The address is Ruhrorter Str. 9 A, 46049 Oberhausen, Germany – the car park entrance is on the opposite side of the road. OBEX has 240 dedicated parking spaces right next to the entrance. Parking costs €6 per vehicle per visit for visitors to our exhibitions.

Yes, there are plenty of cycle parking spaces available.

Yes, OBEX is entirely step free!

Yes, OBEX is accessible for wheelchairs. All rooms are accessible for wheelchairs and an accessible toilet is available.

OBEX has an accessible toilet – please ask our staff on site for directions.

Yes, assistance dogs are welcome. Please be aware that if the dog’s behaviour does not meet the required standards, entry may be denied.

According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission, assistance dogs are highly trained to:

• Stay with their owner and not wander freely.
• Sit or lie quietly on the floor next to their owner.
• Avoid fouling in public areas.

All assistance dogs must remain on a lead at all times.

It is possible to buy tickets on site. However, tickets for your preferred time slot may already be sold out. We therefore recommend buying tickets in advance, particularly at weekends, to secure your preferred time slot. Tickets can be purchased via the online shop or the app of the relevant ticket provider.
