Embark on a breathtaking journey to the coldest places on our planet: Starting May 19 at OBEX in Oberhausen, the POLAR EXPERIENCE takes you into the fascinating world of the Arctic and Antarctic.
Following its huge success in Berlin, the doors are now opening in Oberhausen for this unique experience. Across 1,100 square meters, an immersive multimedia exhibition awaits you, featuring large-format projections, impressive soundscapes, scientifically grounded content, and emotional storytelling. The journey takes you from a virtual boarding on the research ship Polarstern through spectacular ice landscapes to a 360° video mapping room, where the Arctic and Antarctic come to life on walls up to six meters high.
This is where entertainment meets science. Designed in collaboration with internationally recognized polar researchers and scientific institutions, the exhibition combines the experience of an expedition, research findings, and hands-on activities, captivating visitors aged five to 95.

The focus here is on polar bears, seals, sea eagles, and penguins.
The human habitat
The exhibition also tells the story of the people of the polar regions. Indigenous communities have lived in the Arctic for thousands of years, passing on their knowledge of ice, animals, weather, and nature from one generation to the next.
